July 3, 1931 – February 11, 2025
Betty Lou Duckett Cameron passed away in Tampa, Florida on February 11, 2025. Betty was born on July 3, 1931 in Canton, NC to Sue and Charles Duckett. She grew up in Mobile, Alabama and graduated from Murphy High School. There she met the love of her life, Theodore Donald (Don) Cameron. Don graduated from the University of Alabama in ROTC and after joining the Air Force, they were whisked away on their life of travel and service. Their first child, Donny, was born in Mobile, Alabama. Soon afterwards, Sandy was born while stationed in Germany. They built a beautiful life together while living in many wonderful places including Texas, Hawaii, DC, Colorado, and Florida.
Betty devoted herself to family and friends and was always there to help or lift everyone’s spirit with her quick wit. She held a few jobs outside the family when it was necessary. She was a talented secretary and sales associate. Being the Macy’s Bridal consultant made her happiest because of her helpful nature and all the pretty dishes she was able to purchase. Golfing was also a favorite hobby in her retirement years. She loved being with her close friends more than her score on the golf course. The beach was always calling Betty and Don where they loved vacationing with their grandchildren.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, and husband. She is survived by her children, Don Cameron (Martha), Sandy Bell (Chris) and her brother Dennis Duckett (Martina); her grandchildren, Nathan Cameron (Rachel), Jerah Cameron, Rob Bell (Ashley), Ginny Pearce (Roger), Scott Bell; and her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Lorelai, Joy, and Kit Pearce; Dylan and Johnny Bell; Nevaeh, Zion, Ali, Jude and Tori Cameron.
