David Anthony DalPian

1934 — November 18, 2020

Former Michigan resident David Anthony DalPian, 85, died Nov. 18, 2020 in Spring Hill Florida. Dave DalPian was born Nov 24, 1934 in Livonia Michigan to Sylvestra and Evelyn DalPian. Dave was a self-educated renaissance man, having owned a chain of restaurants and a coal mine, developed land, flew planes, sailed, and pursued a near-endless list of passions and interests. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was a dedicated husband and father and is survived by his nine children and innumerable grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dave will be remembered by his family for his infectious laugh, positivity, and engaging story telling. The favorite family story is how he crashed a plane into a local grocery store where everyone survived - he credited this to the fact that he crashed in the bread aisle. He was always ready to do anything for his family and would brag about his children and grandchildren to anyone who would listen. He never missed a birthday, graduation, wedding, or important event, despite the expansiveness of his family. And beyond his own family, he was still just as generous, willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Indeed, Dave was a loving Christian and active in his faith community with cherished friendships that spanned more than eighty years. Though he will be sorely missed, his family knows that he lived a full life exactly as he wished and is in a better place, reunited with Rita, the love of his life. Due to the current circumstances, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to charity.
