Gary O. Taylor, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, 15 December, 2020 in Hudson, FL. He was born 18 June, 1955 in Sanford FL to Donald O. Taylor and Carol L. (Angel) Taylor.
Gary grew up in Jacksonville, FL and King of Prussia, PA. He graduated from Upper Merion Sr. High School in 1973 and enlisted in the US Army. Gary served proudly in the Army Signal Corps as a private, NCO, and commissioned officer until his retirement in 1993. He enjoyed the challenges, opportunities, and travel during his military career and especially meeting his wife Patti while both were stationed in Germany. After military retirement Gary obtained his MS from Florida State University and worked in the IT field in Jacksonville, FL. He and Patti later moved to her home state of Wisconsin, living in Brooklyn and Brodhead until their return to Florida in 2020.
Gary enjoyed boating, water and snow skiing, and jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. He especially enjoyed camping and sitting around a campfire with friends. Gary also loved animals to the point that Patti had to ban him from visiting the Humane Society and adopting more cats and dogs.
Gary is survived by his loving wife Patti Shea, son Gaeson (Megan) Taylor, daughter Alicia (James) Silverman, and grandchildren Lillie, Eli, Gaston, and Henry. He is further survived by his father Donald, brother Roger (Alexandra) Taylor, sister Ellen (Jeff) Glass, and nieces Jennifer, Jessica, Kathleen, and Lauren.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother Carol and nephew Jeffrey.
Due to Covid-19 and restrictions a celebration of life memorial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that any memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or American Humane Society.
