Gordon Keith Gerard

March 20, 1937 — February 9, 2024

Gordon Keith Gerard, 86, passed away peacefully at Bear Creek Nursing Home in Hudson, Florida, on Friday, February 9, 2024.

Gordon was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England on March 20, 1935, to Leonard and Florence Gerard. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Thelma, Shirley, and Leonard, as well as his former wife, Margaret. Gordon had two sons, Paul Gerard (Doug Hamilton) and Neil Gerard.

As a young man, Godon served in the Royal Air Force. He lived in England until 1983, working as a Harbour Master in Poole Harbour, England, prior to moving to the US.  Gordon settled in Florida and eventually became a US Citizen. He lived many years in Tallahassee, Florida with his long-time partner, Barbara Hudson. For several years, he had a business called Gordon’s Seafood and he provided live Maine lobsters to restaurants, grocery stores, and several military bases in the Florida Panhandle.

Gordon enjoyed dancing, reading, watching movies, visiting friends, traveling with Barbara and visiting her family, whom he treated as his own. He was like a grandfather to Bryson Hudson and Georgia Mikuta of New Port Richey, Florida, and was a dear friend and father figure to Lynn Hudson, Laurie Mikuta (Joel), and Jamey Hudson (deceased) throughout the years.  In 2023, following serious illness, he was moved from Tallahassee to Hudson, Florida, so that he could live closer to Barbara’s family and receive care at Bear Creek Nursing Home. He was loved by his caregivers and other staff at Bear Creek. He will be missed for his charm, kindness, laughter, and agreeable nature.

Gordon asked that his body be donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Florida. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to a favorite charity.
