James Gregory Schwader Sr.

James "Jim” Gregory Schwader, 57 passed away on March 11, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. Born on June 8, 1966, in Decatur Illinois, Jim was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.


Jim served 30 years in the United States Coast Guard from 1987 to 2018, where he dedicated his life to his country. He lived by the motto of "Creating solutions not Problems," and his commitment to his work was unwavering. Despite his serious demeanor when it came to duty, Jim was known for his sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter to those around him.


Outside of his military service, Jim was a devoted family man. He cherished his role as "Grumpy" to his only Grandson, Sebastian, and enjoyed spending time with his wife, Julie, and his children, Jimmy, Jason, and Jennifer. Jim had a passion for woodworking and building models, finding joy in creating with his hands.


In his free time, Jim could often be found walking his beloved dog, Rosie, around the golf course where he lived. His love for his family and his hobbies brought him immense joy and fulfillment.


Jim is survived by his wife, Julie Schwader; children, Jimmy and his wife Kelly, Jennifer Willis and her husband Kelly Willis, and Jason.; grandson, Sebastian Willis; brother, Rich Schwader; and sister, Linda Furlong. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Billie Schwader.


Jim's legacy of dedication, humor, and love for his family will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
