Joan Victoria Danielson Jordan January 16, 1943 – February 7, 2025
Joan Victoria Danielson Jordan, 82, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 16, 1943, she was the daughter of Werner Gerhard Danielson and Adele Frakes Danielson. The family relocated to Tampa, Florida, in 1950.
In her early years, Joan was an active Girl Scout and an avid baton twirler, proudly marching in the Gasparilla Children’s Parade. She was a dedicated member of the Order of the Rainbow Girls, holding various offices before becoming Worthy Advisor, the head of her chapter. Joan went on to serve as a State Officer and Chaplain. A graduate of H.B. Plant High School, Class of 1960, she continued her education at Ringling College of Art in 1961 before graduating from the Business University of Tampa in 1962. Joan enjoyed modeling and was honored as the "Beauty of the Week" in the Tampa Bay Tribune in 1962. She worked at the International Inn as the executive secretary to the vice president, where she met her husband of 31 years, Robert E. Jordan. As a homemaker, Joan was a devoted wife and mother. She loved art, music, singing, and trips to the beach. She especially cherished her time spent with her daughters, dining, shopping, and always laughing. Joan was a member of both Seminole United Methodist Church and Palma Ceia United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Jordan; her parents, Werner Gerhard Danielson and Adele Frakes Danielson; and her brother, Jim Danielson.
Joan is survived by her loving daughters, Janet Jordan (Paul) and Joann Jordan Salemi (Anthony); grandchildren, Todd Bates Jr., Trent Bates, Josie Salemi-O'Bryon (Taylor), and Dominic Salemi; great-grandson, Tanner, with another great-grandson on the way; sister-in-law, Carol Danielson; and her best friend, Vivian Perez, and her family.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Joan's name to the Alzheimer’s Association for continued research into this heartbreaking disease. Please visit her tribute page at: http://act.alz.org/goto/JoanDanielsonJordan
