Joan Rosalia-Rossi, 77, of Port Richey, FL, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 4, 2020.
She was born July 17, 1943, to Carl and Millie Abbate in Brooklyn, NY. Her siblings were Victor, Rose, Anna, Olivia, and her twin sister Jerry.
Joan married Carmen Rosalia September 8, 1963. They had 3 children – Valerie (Lindo), Steven, Richard (Sandra); and 2 grandchildren – Anthony & Joseph.
Joan is survived by many loving relatives and cherished friends. Including her husband, Bob Rossi; Joan’s brother Victor (Jennie), Joan’s sister Olivia (John), Joan’s sister Jerry; Joan’s brother-in-law Richie; Joan’s sister-in-law Rosemary (John); Joan’s children Valerie (Lindo), Steven, and Richard (Sandra); Joan’s grandsons Anthony and Joseph; Bob’s children Bobby (Patricia) and Donna; and Bob’s grandchildren Captain Dominic Rossi, Maria, Angelina, Harrison, Jackson, and Ava.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband Carmen; Joan’s parents Carl and Millie; Carmen’s parents Anthony and Angela; Joan’s sisters Anna and Rose; and Joan’s stepson General John Rossi.
Joan worked for the Pasco County School System for more than 30 years. The majority of which were spent at Bayonet Point Middle School, where she was a loyal member of the Patriot family.
She was a parishioner of St James the Apostle Catholic Church and a sorority sister of Beta Sigma Phi, Xi Xi Upsilon chapter.
She loved the beach, sunsets, travel, photography, and many types of musical concerts and theater.
Joan was beloved by family and friends. She was a cheerful, kind, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be always be remembered dearly as “the light in every room she entered”.
Joan’s family will announce a memorial church service to celebrate her life at a future date.
