Maria Marino Vosilla

December 7, 1940 — February 21, 2025

Port Richey

Maria Vosilla (Marino), 84 of Port Richey, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, after battling Alzheimer’s and Pancreatic Cancer. Maria was born in New York City on December 7th, 1940 to parents Vincenzo & Antonia Marino. Maria was the 4th of 5 children where she was raised in Washington Heights and attended Mother Cabrini High School. As a young adult in New York City, she worked as a secretary on Wall Street before getting married to her husband, Vito, on August 15th 1971. In 1980, Maria, her husband Vito, and their two sons moved to Port Richey, FL where she continued to be a stay-at-home mom. During the early-mid 1980’s, while both her sons were attending Hudson Elementary School, she was the president of the PTA and an active volunteer in the classroom. This made quite the impression on the Assistant Principal at the time. Later, when that gentleman became Principal at Calusa Elementary, one of his first calls was to Maria to offer her a job as a Paraprofessional (Teacher’s Aid) in the Kindergarten department. This role suited Maria perfectly as it allowed her to keep a similar schedule as her two boys in the school system, and it allowed her skills and talents with young children to flourish. She later went on to similar roles at Fox Hollow Elementary and Longleaf elementary until retiring from the Pasco County School System in 2007. Maria loved music. Whether it was dancing to showtunes from her childhood, singing to hymns at church, songs for Kindergartners, or singing along to 80’s pop songs in the car with her sons on the way to soccer practice, she always had a melody in her heart and in her soul. During retirement she didn’t hesitate to sign up for multiple musical performances each year at the local Timber Oaks community clubhouse. Maria was also the consummate volunteer. Did the soccer team need a Team Mom? Sign her up! Den Leader for the Cub Scouts? Sign her hup! She volunteered countless hours to organizations that impacted her children. And when she wasn’t doing that, she spent countless hours volunteering to that which impacted her most. In particular, St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she was an active parishioner for over 40+ years. Maria had an incredible devotion to the Catholic faith. She spent many years as a Lector, a Eucharistic Minister, signed up for Hospital Ministry, and spent multiple years teaching CCD classes while her sons were going through religious education on the path to Confirmation. Maria is preceded in death by her husband Vito, parents Vicenzo & Antonia, siblings Ralph, Dominic, Lena & Alba. Maria is survived by her son Richard and his wife Kim, granddaughter Rebecca and grandson Dominic; her son Paul, his wife Monica, and granddaughter Gianna.
