Rogelio Lucas Oliveros

June 8, 1941 — December 5, 2023

Holiday

Rogelio Lucas Oliveros (affectionally known as “Roger”) passed away on December 5, 2023. He is now reunited with his sons, Joseph (†2022), Rocky John (†1964), parents Carlos Oliveros, Sr. (†1982) & Amalia Lucas (†1978), brother Carlos Oliveros, Jr. (†1984), sister Rosalinda Oliveros Lacson (†2005), sister Letty Tongco (†2011), sister Lourdes Gorres (“Luding”) (†2021) and various in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Roger was born in Manila, Philippines on June 8, 1941. He and his family immigrated to the United States in March 1978. Roger is survived by his wife, Aurora Rivera (“Tita”), daughter Maria Socorro Herrera (“Corrie”) (Kenny), daughter-in-law Leslie (†Joseph), brother Crisostomo (“Tom”) (†Aurelia Fajardo 1987), sister Teresita Comiso (“Tessie”) (†Armando 2011), sister Marietta Cielo (“Margie”) (Mark), sister Lita Day, and sister-in-law Remedios Oliveros (“Medy”) (†Carlos Jr. “Jun” 1984).

Roger spent most of his life in Chicago raising his family surrounded by countless extended family members. He and his wife later moved to Holiday, Florida where they enjoyed the sunshine state to the fullest. To so many of his family and friends, Roger was known to be the “jokester” of the family. If you needed a good belly laugh, Roger did not disappoint. He enjoyed traveling and would drive through various states with his family. Oftentimes, you could catch Roger & Tita driving around Florida neighborhoods or taking afternoon or evening strolls. He especially liked trying his luck at the casinos. And he could often be found at the corner 7-11 buying scratch outs or lottery tickets.

But Roger was most devoted to his family, his wife, daughter, and son. He has never left his wife’s side in their 67 years of marriage. Their marriage has stood the test of time and were truly blessed to have had each other. Despite moving to Florida, he never missed a daily phone call to his daughter nor son who lived in Chicago. His devotion to his family will be sorely missed.

A short, private viewing for immediate family members will take place at Prevatt Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 12 at 1:30 pm EST in Hudson, Florida.
