Homosassa

And you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. II Peter 1:11

Even as we have hope for reuniting in eternal life, our hearts are left broken with the passing of Sydney “Syd” Keith Tew on January 31, 2025. Syd was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Lebaska and Tempie Lou (Corbin) Tew on December 29, 1940.

As a young boy Syd exceled in school and enjoyed a life growing up in Grand Rapids with his older siblings, brother Robert Tew (deceased) and Helen Nelson (deceased). He was a proud member of MENSA.

A patriot, upon graduation Syd joined the U.S. Navy where he was a student of the U.S. Naval Submarine School. He successfully completed many of the school’s courses with a focus on engineering and electronics. Syd was consistently recognized as a top performer and earned the distinction of achieving the highest merit attained in Submarines Enlisted Basic Class #217. He also attended the U.S. Naval Guided Missiles School and served in Vietnam. Other accolades earned during his Naval service include the Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal.

Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, Syd continued his education. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in computer science from Western Michigan University. And went on to have a successful career including starting and running his own engineering firm called Electro-Dynamics. His career highlights include several patents. An ambitious learner and voracious reader, he spent much of his life continuing his education, including coursework focused on U.S. history through Hillsdale College.

Syd met the love of his life, Judith Ann Angle in 1965. They married June 29, 1968. Together they raised their children Carinne (from a previous marriage), Brian, Jennifer and Larisa in New Baltimore, Mich. Once their children were grown, they moved to Tarpon Springs and then Homosassa, Florida to enjoy their time growing older together. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, camping, biking and spending time in the pool.

Preceded in joining the Lord: Mother, Father, Brother, Sister and Sons (Brian and Robert).

Survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Judith Ann (Angle) Tew, Daughters: Carinne Elizabeth Wongsam, Jennifer Lee Haselhuhn and Larisa Lynn Dzikowski; Sons-in-law: Paul Eric Haselhuhn and Paul Dzikowski; Grandchildren: Jessica Wongsam, Joshua
