Louella Lentz

February 19, 1930 — May 27, 2022

Louella Ann (Miller) Lentz, 92, was a longtime resident of Rochester, MN., becoming a full time resident in Hudson, Florida, in 2018 with her husband, Robert C. “Bob” Lentz. Louella Lentz was born in Milaca, MN in 1930 to Mr. & Mrs. Arthur A. Miller, Louella attended various area country schools with her sister and brothers. On May 7, 1950,, Bob and Louella Miller, of Mankato, MN., were united in marriage in Mapleton, MN. They celebrated 70 years of marriage on May 7, 2020. Bob and Louella welcomed three children: Dale, (1951), Leigh Ann, (1952) and Sharon, (1955). Louella was a fulltime housewife and mother, though she did take a part time job, working evenings for a while near their Minneapolis home. Later, when living in Rochester, MN., she did some waitressing over the noon hour at Mr. Steak with several lady friends 1975-1977. In 1965, Bob & Louella moved their family to Rochester, MN, when Bob began working for IBM-Rochester. They lived there for many years, and made many friends through work, church and neighborhood friends. In September of 1974, Bob and Lou’s only son, Dale, was the victim of an armed robbery in California, where he was living and attending UCLA part time. He had been honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy the year before. In July 1984, Bob retired from his position of Mechanical Engineer at IBM-Rochester. Bob and his wife, Louella, spent the next 35 years “wintering” in Florida, and made many good friends down there. Throughout these years, Leigh Ann and family would spend a few weeks every winter visiting Mom and Dad in Florida and taking them and their four children to Disney World. Many fun memories were made. In November 2017, Sharon and her husband picked up Bob & Lou at the Tampa airport in FL, and took them to their New Port Richey home for the Winter. In late January of 2019, Bob found what he thought was the perfect 1 BR. apartment for he and my mom at an Assisted Living Retirement home. It was not far from Sharon and they helped them furnish it. It had a wonderful covered deck off the living room. They enjoyed spending time with them, and enhancing their ‘quality of life’. They took them down to see some dear friends of theirs and would meet them for breakfast. They also had special places where they liked to eat—where they got larger portions! Bob & Louella have four grandchildren, Christine, Tricia, Jeffrey and Elizabeth (Beth), six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Survivors also include their daughters Leigh Ann Curtin (Dale) of Rochester, Mn, and Sharon DePauw (Roger) of New Port Richey, Fl, Bob’s sister, Mrs. Joyce Mittelsted, Chaska, MN., and Bob’s brother, Rev. Keith Lentz and wife, Marlene. O of Stillwater, Mn. Also many nieces and nephews. Louella is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, “Bob”, their beloved son, Dale, Lou’s parents, her husband’s parents, and other departed family members. A combined Memorial Service for Bob and Lou will be held August 27th at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, Mn. Visitation will be at 10:00, Service at 11:00 with Rev Keith Lentz officiating and lunch after the service. Burial will be later that day at Union Cemetery in Mapleton, MN.
